A little about me
Angie Stead | JAN 22, 2022
I figured I should tell y’all a little about myself. I’m Angie, it’s actually Angelia. But I go by Angie.
I was born and raised in a small town, Fairless Hills, PA. It was a steel community at its start back in 1951. I‘m the youngest of 5 girls. I currently live outside of Chattanooga, TN. My husband Mike, myself and our three boys moved here in 2016.
I met my husband, Mike in high school in August of 1995 and we married and had our first son in the spring/summer of 1999. Our next son was born in 2006 and our last son was born in 2008.
My oldest son made me a Nana in 2017. I have the most beautiful granddaughter.
I have been blessed to have such a wonderful family. I have been able to stay home with my boys, take part in school functions and spent the summers at the Jersey Shore or Sesame Place. For those who haven’t heard of Sesame Place, it’s a children’s water park in Langhorne, PA based off the Sesame Street PBS show. It opened in summer of 1980. After we moved to Tennessee, it’s been a whole different summer, lots of Lakes and hikes. Lots of mountains! I will never tire of seeing the mountains every day. It’s a beautiful area.
I started practicing yoga in the late 1990’s. I honestly cannot pinpoint what year. I was reading a book on Native American meditation; I had loved meditation before I even knew what it was. I went to Borders bookstore to find more books on meditation. There I found my first B.K.S. Iyengar book, “The Tree of Yoga” and I have been reading yoga books since. I have been practicing yoga off and on for over 20 years. Sometimes I practice a few times a week. Sometimes I am exhausted and wish I had the energy or time to get a few asanas in. What I learned was I have always done yoga. Yoga isn’t just about the asanas. There is so much more to it. There are 8 different limbs of yoga. The Yamas (restraints), Niyamas (personal observations), Asanas (poses), Pranayama (breathwork), Pratyahara (withdrawal of senses), Dharana (concentration), Dhyana (meditation), Samadhi (enlightenment). We can dive into these in a different blog. I have always found enjoyment reading about yoga philosophy. There is so much to learn!
I love yoga so much, whenever I am on my mat, I feel happy and good about myself. I can set up my yoga mat and I don’t have to do anything wow like. Just simple sun salutations still make me feel better. It’s a feeling I have had since I started yoga. At first it was, what am I doing? But I still felt like I did something for me. And since then, I have gone back to my mat over, and over again. I did yoga when I was pregnant with all my boys, and I did it with them when they were younger. Now, I do yoga with my Granddaughter. There are always a few mats around my house. Yoga has always been a part of my life and I cannot see it not being here.
I hope others feel the way I do about yoga. Happy, calm and feeling good about themselves. Yoga can bring so much joy and love into your life. I know it has to mine.
I guess that's it for now. Until next time. Thank you so much for taking the time to read my blog here.
lots of love to y'all
Namaste,
Angie
