HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Happy New Year!! I hope that you had a great holiday season.

I have so much gratitude for you all. Thank you for making space with me throughout the last year. I hope to continue to offer classes and am working on a few others to come later in the year.

A New Year brings new beginnings and new goals, and a great time to start or recommit to a routine. It may not seem like much but even committing to a daily 10-minute practice at home can do wonders. I personally love a quiet mediation with a cup of tea or quick yoga practice before my day starts or at its end. There is no need to have a set time when it comes to home practice. What is good for you is always the best.

This month I am offering FREE online classes every Tuesday evening at 8:30pm. I do these classes through Skype. When you sign up on the website, yogawithangie.org I will have a code that is sent, and that code will get you to class. For the benefit of the experience to your fellow yogis, I ask that you mute your mic during classes.

In Person classes are at Studio 22, 12194 Dayton Pike Soddy Daisy, TN.

Pose of the Month

Sukhasana with Lotus Mudra

Sitting with a straight back in Sukhasana strengthens the back and easily crossed legs, stretches the knees and ankles, opens the hips, groin, and abductors (outer thigh muscles). It is a grounding posture that brings balance and clarity to the mind and has a relaxing effect on the nervous system. As the body is still, the mind becomes calm.
This is an easy pose to be in for mediation and is a base pose for some seated asanas

Lotus Mudra is a hand gesture designed to open the heart center. This mudra taps into the energetic qualities of compassion, forgiveness, affection, and loving-kindness.

How to: Place both hands in front of your chest so that only the edges of your fingers touch each other. This is the bud of your lotus. Opening your hands, maintaining the contact between the thumb and the pinky finger. Take four deep breaths. Close your lotus and let your drop back down to your knees.
